The honors program is the primary vehicle for IEMS undergraduates to get involved in research. Honors students conduct a research project over two quarters of IEMS 399 taken during senior year, under the guidance of a faculty research advisor.  Honors students also take three advanced courses. The IEMS 399 and advanced courses will typically also count towards the major program requirements for their IEMS B.S. degree.  In addition to gaining research experience, honors students receive a notation on their transcript, recognition in the commencement program, and a certificate from the IE/MS department. Students apply to the program after achieving junior standing and at least three quarters prior to graduation. For details, see the Honors Program Requirements.
